Steven Jaenicke is a life-long McHenry County resident. He grew up in McHenry and Harvard and is now a resident of Cary since 1983. He earned his B.A. degree in History from Northern Illinois University in 1977 and his J.D. from Chicago Kent College of Law in 1982.

Steve has practiced in McHenry County for over 44 years, as an Assistant State’s Attorney in the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office, as an Assistant Public Defender in the McHenry County Public Defender’s Office, and in private practice. Areas of practice have included criminal prosecution and defense of criminal misdemeanor and felony cases, traffic and DUIs, and Juvenile Court delinquency cases and neglect and abuse cases. Private practice also included residential real estate closings.

Steve is married to his wife, Anne, for 47 years. She is a retired French teacher in District 155. Adult daughters, Beth and Megan, are graduates of Cary Grove High School.

His interests include running, skiing, walking and rooting on the Cubs and Bears with his wife and their dog.
